17987: Mother Jones home page

There's not going to be much discussion if the interview is not yet online at the magazine's website. This is the reason why this has been deleted before.

17976: Summer Glau in preview clip of Monday's episode of SCC.

Unless it's a clip from the premiere of a new season or of a special guest appearance, we would tend not to do clips of Whedonverse actors in other shows. One reason being that it could possibly overwhelm the front page at the expense of Joss relevant features.

17973: Former Angel writer Shawn Ryan discusses The Shield's series finale.

Not really frontpage material for Whedonesque. Good read for Shield fans, though.

17961: Dollhouse to Premiere on Jan. 11?

Link to a Wikipedia article on 24 to discuss the Dollhouse premiere date - not front page news.

17956: FCC Okays Nudity On TV If It’s Alyson Hannigan

It's quite old and has been discussed in the past.

17954: A link not long for this world.

Indeed.

17947: NPR hearts Mad Men.

As with previous deleted posts about Mad Men (#17873) and NPR (#17858), this doesn't appear to address anything particularly Whedonesque-y about the show (Hendricks, Kartheiser etc.).  It's a great show, but that fact alone doesn't make the link suitable for the site.  See also deleted link #17845.

17948: EW.com's 25 Butt-Kicking Babes.

17946: Support the Whedon Reddit!

I think that particular social news site will do fine without our linkage.

17942: SMG's Randall Slavin Shoot

Linked site (which in itself was questionable) appears to no longer have the content.

17925: Firefly gets a mention on the ctrl+alt+del comic.

It's a bit too brief a mention to justify a mention on the front page.

17920: Father Mathias?

Links about less prominent actors of the Whedonverse making appearances in other, non-Whedon, shows are best posted on whedonesque.org.  It's somewhat of a discretion call, but they should probably be billed a bit higher than Michael Hitchcock.

Also, this happened already - a link to a past, as opposed to prospective, appearance is less news-worthy.

17904: Buffy and Company - Then and Now

As stated already today, this was posted on the 8th of this month.

17902: Smile Lines, Facial Hair, and Babies! Oh my!

This particular item was originally posted on the 8th of October.

17899: Fringe cancelled downunder after only 5 episodes.

News about a non-Joss show no longer being shown in a country outside the United States is slightly tenuous for the front page. However it would be more than suitable for discussion over at Whedonesque.org.

17892: Dr. Horrible CD and DVD available for pre-order next week.

Pulled because it contained inaccurate information.

17891: Dollhouse not ready for midseason?

TV Squad, bless 'em, got their knickers in a twist and completely misread a Hollywood Reporter blog article about The Sarah Connor Chronicles being renewed ( Click here to read the relevant Whedonesque discussion about the renewal). So once again it's just another case of sloppy blogging by an entertainment site and nothing to write home about or indeed worry about.

17887: BBC America: Catch the Little Britain marathon airing Sunday, October 19th starting at 3 pm/2c

News about marathon showings of non-Joss shows is not really front page news at Whedonesque. It would however be perfectly suitable for posting about over at our sister site Whedonesque.org.

17881: Dushku and Fillion films!

News about the Austin film festival was posted on the 15th of this month.

17876: Vote for Doug Jones.

This was an item about the Spike TV Awards but this had been covered last month.

17873: Feminists Love Mad Men.

There are several Whedon actors in MM, but this link doesn't refer to them, or to anything particularly Whedonesque-y.  I refer you to Simon's guidelines below at 17845 re non-Joss shows.

17855: Joss Whedon and the Conspiracy of the Book of Lies

No link and this particular item has been posted before.

17853: Can you guess which show the IMDB Quote of the Day is from?

Not a permalink (so it'll be different tomorrow), but frankly, even if it was, this isn't front-page material.

17845: Fan campaign to move Sarah Connor Chronicles to Wednesday slot.

A fan campaign to change the timeslot of a non-Joss show is a bit too tenuous for the front page. However it would be perfectly suitable for posting over at our sister site Whedonesque.org.

But seeing as I have your attention, here's the lowdown on what is usually acceptable for coverage of non-Joss shows at Whedonesque.

Within reason, the following are ok:

1) Interviews with actors who have appeared in a Joss production. i.e. "David Boreanaz talks about Bones season 4".
2) News about a new show an actor will be starring in. i.e. "Summer Glau lands lead role in new Terminator show".
3) News about a show an actor will be guesting in. ie ""James Marsters to guest in Without A Trace".
4) Major news about a show. i.e. "How I Met Your Mother gets a fourth season" or "Nick Brendon's Kitchen Confidential gets cancelled".
5) Info about the DVD releases for a particular show i.e. "J. August Richards' show out on DVD on March 19th".

If there are several items of similar nature about a actor and their show on the front page, then these entries will more than likely get merged.

For example, here's two hypothetical entries about Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to HBO.

SMG to star in HBO drama. Full details at Variety.

and

SMG speaks about new role. She tells TV Guide, "I'm thrilled".

These entries could be combined to give us

SMG to star in HBO drama. Details at Variety and there's an interview with her about her role over at TV Guide.

Anyhow those are the major points about coverage of non-Joss shows at Whedonesque.

17844: What the hell? - Angel's 'The Girl in Question"

This didn't link to on-line info about the event itself.  In any case, this kind of news is probably best posted on our .org site, where there's a conventions & gatherings thread.

17841: Best Buy offers Free Paley Reunion in Stores only

Whedonesque is a blog not a forum. There has to be relevant information at the link provided to justify a front page entry.

17828: Nathan Fillion will nail your wife

That particular item was already posted the day before.

17824: Vampires defanged

Its a little thin for the front page, plus its fairly short and just says "I want x, y, and z from vampire stories and anyone who doesn't give it to me is wrong."

17820: First picture of Amy Acker as Claire Saunders.

Linking to scanned copyrighted material is not permitted. Plus, it's tacky.

17818: Own Joss Whedon's house.

The return of the story that wouldn't die.  See previous entries for an explanation why this is not appropriate for the site.

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

17815: First look at Amy Acker as Dr. Claire Saunders.

Linking to scans is against our rules.

17811: Joss Whedon puts Brentwood home up for sale for $3,695,000.

See previous entries on this matter.

177810: Joss' home for sale for $3,695,000

Private sphere versus public sphere. It's a fascinating philosophical debate but we're of the opinion that Joss selling his house is his business and not ours.

17809: First look at Dr. Claire Saunders.

Linking to scans comes under our "Please do not link to illegal downloads of copyrighted material." rule.

17808: Joss puts Brentwood home up for sale.

Ok, come on guys. Common sense says this is a questionable topic from the get go. Do some checking to see if it's already been deleted (twice already), or even better, think twice before you post.

17807: Nathan Fillion is IMDB's Daily Trivia Question

The trouble with linking to the front page of IMDB is that the info disappears the next day. We like more permanency. And the info itself didn't really justify a front page entry.

17806: PG-Porn goes live early

This item had already been posted today.

17799: Dental Serenity Opens in Sydney, Australia

Repeat postage

17801: Anyone want to buy Joss Whedon's House?

See below. Yes, I know some say its "interesting and fun", but you can easily deduce the man's address from it and if he still lives there its a privacy issue. As with copyrighted scans, just because other people post it doesn't mean that we have to.

Monday, October 6, 2008

17781: Perez Hilton Grabs Michelle Trachtenberg's Breasts.

Do I really need to explain this? Its a single pic, there is no news. Its a (theoretically) titilating shot that in actuality is just pointless.

17780: Show our fav Terminator some love and maybe win a all-new Dodge Ram!

Too blatantly commercial plus little Summer content.

Sunday, October 5, 2008

17776: Wanted: SMG as a Fry Girl.

Citizen satire purporting to be a genuine press release. Epic fail (note - Variety is not spelt with two "e"s).

Friday, October 3, 2008

17767: SMG hearts GOP?

Not really front page material (i.e.unless brought up in a major interview or in a p.p.b and such ilk., an actor's political views are their own business and not ours).

Thursday, October 2, 2008

17753: Barack the Tyrant Slayer

Cute, but overtly political and not really frontpage worthy.

17755: Sarah Palin Vs Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I realise there's a debate happening tonight but there's no need to flood Whedonesque with all this political stuff. Also this piece seemed to be more of a rant than anything else.

17754: Sarah Palin named her daughter after our Willow?

Bit tenuous for a front page entry.

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

17774: Felicia Day's episode on House now up on hulu.

Seeing as we had a discussion about the episode when it aired (23rd of September) , a follow-up link about the episode being on Hulu is not really front page material. Though the news would be very suitable for our sister site Whedonesque.org.

17743: Tom Link lands role in primetime comedy... oh, nevermind.

News of Tom's casting was posted on the 22nd of last month.
